Roughly 1k budget. My needs/uses:

Tons of windows open at all times, tabs galore, various applications

Been laptop dependant for years, finally looking for a permanent setup that I can improve upon later if I decide to replace parts, etc

Planning on doing a bit of novice building via python + streamlit (am big noob, pro SQL developer but I'd like to build more permanent dashboards)

Some gaming, don't need the best of the best gpu/stats, but I'd like to know what limitations I will have for a 1k budget. Maybe d2r? Cs?

I already have monitors, keyboard, mouse.

I would also prefer a monochromatic NOB-rbg led flashy case. Would be nice to have a professional looking case, but it seems difficult to find.

I was initially thinking of going with a pre-built, but I hate the look of most and I want the experience of putting it together.

I'd love any advice/recommendations. Thanks

Let me know if I need to be more specific

Thanks - would I be able to switch out this case for a different one?

What games would I not be able to run with this setup? (just so I have an idea of limitations)

probably every game thats out right now.. but future? who knows

also you wont be getting insane fps prob will have to play on low on huge titles like Apex Legends (which still looks good)

maybe concider a prebuilt? this looks ok https://www.newegg.com/yeyian-ypb-sho-x01-shoge-x01/p/N82E16883630002?quicklink=true
u can add 8 more gb of ram if u need it also and it comes with keyboard and mouse in case you needed those or not.

also its hard to find a non gaming case with gaming stuff atm

Right, being "future-proof" is kind of the idea behind getting a desktop so I can improve on things later if I choose to. Right now I don't need anything super powerful GPU-wise.

Thanks! Case isn't a deal breaker, I just like to simple + sleek/professional look better than RGB/led stuff.

I think I may end up going with a prebuilt, but I also just enjoy playing with the tech + hardware, getting the experience of building the PC would be a lot of fun

I think I will be going with this build, with a couple small changes.

Swapping out the half TB for a 1 TB ssd, not quite worth going for 2TB currently.

How would this GPU hold up in a pc today vs the GTX 1650 super?

https://www.xfxforce.com/gpus/amd-radeon-tm-rx-580-gts-xxx-edition-8gb-4

I've got a small pile of them from ETH mining days

They seem fairly comparable even though the 580 is 4 years old?

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-580-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1650S-Super/3923vs4058

Really appreciate any insight - thanks

e/ I have 6 of them, beneficial to throw 2 into a pc?

Also if that GPU is sufficient, would it be smart to go more expensive on another aspect of the PC?
