Sea Foam and some tlc. any residue leaks down will burn up. dont worry if it smokes a little it will stop

carb cleaner and a rag. Its most likely a fairly rough casting inside so it looks worse than it is.

if dissolved, should be fine. But if you arent going to take the intake off any further, stuff some rags, not paper towels, to catch the shit. But more than likely, itll look like that all the way down to the valve seats/top piston

Walnut blasting — bmws usually have this done as maintenance

Home remedy would be wire brush / wire wheel , carb cleaner and elbow grease.

Or just leave it.
