I've been wanting to understand,

In Private Servers like Path of Diablo or Project Diablo 2.

How do those servers keep logs on items that are dropped and picked up.
Or just how does it work in general?

If I found a Griffons Eye and picked it up, then trade to another character on another account, is there any kind of info that's passed on that's stored somewhere keeping record that I was the first person to have found it?

I am playing PD2 and want to understand more about item tracking and flags etc.

Any info is appreciated

I don't think they track runes, nor items, through flags or whatever. Hopefully someone more qualified can clarify this bit. Chats are logged though afaik.

If you're concerned about being banned via trading items, the easiest way is for them to "track" is to cross reference their trade channels (trade site or discord) with whatever item you've posted here. Unique corrupts like a CBF Wisp Projector or something that you're selling here can be easily seen if you've posted it anywhere else.
