HoN never lost to League, it lost to DotA2. When DotA2 closed beta keys went out to all pro teams, and overnight about 120ppl in the top 150 in HoN left the game. C-tier teams went on to become the A-teams due to an overnight shift and the game just fell into the background at that point. Sure there were events, but the following shifted so fast away from HoN and they went on a hard decline.

It definitely lost to both. It lost to LoL by not being a F2P game upon release also.
I agree with all your other points though, they are 10000% valid and true.
