No, you don't need to be level 40 to receive Pokemon. Pokemon's level will scale to your trainer level. If you're level 15 and I trade you a level 30 Charizard 2200 CP, this will become level 15 with around 1100 CP. It would be a waste if I gave you high level/CP Pokemon. All the Pokemon for sale are between level 1 to 35. For power ups, you need to be level 40 to 50.

Its actually trainer level + 2. If you're trading a level 40 pokemon to a level 30 trainer it would change to level 32.

Yes, you need to build friendship for 30 or 90 days depending on how much stardust you have and can get.

ahh i have plenty of stardust 30 days so long for a trade i dont think id be consistent enough
