I don't think it's your problem, might be the "lucky" like me having the vram/ram bug problem !
Tested on a laptop with 16 gb ddr works fine, no problem on waiting joining games or entering portals (d2r eats 2,4 gb) but on my PC with 32 gb ddr my d2r eats 11 gb of ram and it takes 20 - 40 sec to join a game and 10 - 20 sec to enter portals
edit : You can try this, might work
1. First, go to your in-game settings
2. Turn on Vertical Sync
3. Diablo 2 Resurrected - Vertical Sync Setting
4. Set Framerate Cap to 60
5. Diablo 2 Resurrected - Framerate Cap setting
6. Now save your settings and restart the game
7. Start playing the game again
8. Use a performance monitoring utility and check the GPU usage and temperature, while you are at it
9. If you notice that your GPU usage has come down, and your GPU temperature is below 75. Then you don’t need to do anything else
10. If you see that the problem still persists, then
11. Open Nvidia Control Panel(For Nvidia users), and select Manage 3D settings from the left side
12. Click on the Program Settings tab
13. Add Diablo 2 Resurrected from the list of programs under ‘Select a program to customize:’
14. If you do not see Diablo 2 on the list, then you need to add the .exe file manually. Which in this case is d2r.exe
15. Once it is added, the settings below should become available for the game
16. Look for the ‘Max Frame Rate‘ setting, turn it on, and set the limit to 60 fps
17. Now, look for the ‘CUDA – GPUs‘ setting, select your dedicated GPU there, if it is set to ‘Use global setting (All)’ by default
18. Finally, look for the ‘OpenGL rendering GPU’ setting, and select your dedicated GPU there also
19. Apply the settings
20. AMD users can use the Radeon Software to do something similar
hmm seems like both these things didn't change much as for single player. can't log on bnet yet but i'll have a look when the servres are back on
