De’Anthony Melton ranked in the top 5 percentile for combo guards in block% and steal%.

Shot 37.4% from 3 on 8.1 attempts per 36.

Now go sign PJ Tucker in free agency.

And make Thybulle focus on his outside shooting 100000% in the off-season.

"With the news today of James Harden opting out of his $47.3M option to take a pay cut, combined with the increased salary cap, the Sixers could not only sign P.J. Tucker but use $4.1 million bi-annual exception to add more depth to the squad. We must discuss what happens if Harden opts in. Here’s what Bodner had to say if that indeed is the reality:"

Quote
“A $1.3 million jump in space under the hard cap might not sound like a lot, but it’s very significant. Every million counts here. Sitting at $5.293m below the apron threshold, the Sixers would need to dump about $4.2 million in salary to get enough space under the apron to fit in the reported $9.5 million starting salary for Tucker. In fact, either Korkmaz ($5 million) or even just Thybulle ($4.379m) will do.

Before the jump in the cap, when they needed to clear $5.5 million in salary, they would have needed to dump two players to be able to sign Tucker. Now, they’d just need to drop one. That’s key, not only because it’s easier to find a team willing to absorb just one contract, but also because it means you have fewer roster spots to replace, and thus are more comfortable operating close to the hard cap than you were before.”

Let's goooooooo.....finally going to have some solid depth. Morey doing work filling holes. Adding Melton, Tucker and another bench contributor? :hail:

"I don't think Philly will be done. We are hearing a lot about Tobias Harris on the trade market."

— Brian Windhorst, on other moves the Sixers could move after extending James Harden

Sounds like Morey wants to move Tobias, but only if it benefits the team ofc. Not just a salary dump.

That can easily be moved after 2 years though (if they wanted), and with the salary cap expanding the way it is that'll be a small drop in the bucket on the cap space. We just have to hope he doesn't have a drastic drop off, but based on what we saw last season he looks to be in great shape.

They have a solid 2-3 year window with a good chance to win, and Tucker gives them so much of what they need even at his age. He's a great rebounder at his position (76ers were not a good rebounding team before), he can defend pretty much any position on the floor (remember the Rockets started him at center for their playoff push rofl), and he's tough and playoff tested. Plus, unlike Thybulle he is actually a really corner corner 3pt shooter (40%+)

Morey is still adding and working the phones though, another move or two in the works i'll bet.

Let's get it :locked:

The Sixers replaced Danny Green, DeAndre Jordan and Paul Millsap with De’Anthony Melton, P.J. Tucker and Danuel House. The price points on the FA deals are fair to debate, but on paper, this looks like a better team. And they might not be done.

Sixers believe they have improved with PJ Tucker, Danuel House Jr, and De’Anthony Melton

They wanted toughness. They believe they got that. They wanted more versatility. They got that. And they wanted guys that can knock down open 3s. Got that

The X factor is James Harden

John Hollinger | The Athletic

"Want some more positive reinforcement that Morey's offseason so far has been a good one for the Sixers title aspirations? Here's John Hollinger's thumbs up, thumbs down writeup of the Tucker signing and the rest of Philly's moves on the margins:"

Quote
Thumbs up: Philadelphia gets the band back together (P.J. Tucker, three years, $33 million; Danuel House, two years $8 million)

You can argue there is a bit of Buddy Ryan Syndrome at play here, with Sixers general manager Daryl Morey replaying his greatest hits from the Houston days by bringing back Tucker and House to join James Harden and his one-time draft pick De’Anthony Melton. However, one can also argue, more emphatically, that the Sixers finally have a couple of wings who fit their Harden-Embiid-Harris-Maxey core with the additions of Tucker, House and the previously acquired Melton.

The Sixers needed James Harden to opt-out of his $47 million for the season to pull this off (as our Shams Charania reported he will do) and will be hard-capped the rest of the season, but can bring Harden back on a three-year deal for roughly $110 million and proceed at least fairly comfortably through the season. Philly still likely has some issues ramping up to the levels of the Bucks, Celtics and Heat in the East, but between these additions and one or two subtractions (including a name below), this is a much more coherent roster than it was a year ago.
