Starting to learn coding/programming on my own

Does anyone have timelines on if/when they started from scratch to learning somewhat enough to create own projects, etc.?

Planning to find a remote job in the future and want to know a realistic timeline!

Thanks in advance!

also, if you have any tips/advice feel free to drop it!

Having no idea about who you are, your background, or how fast of a learner you might be this is an impossible question to answer with any sort of accuracy.

With that being said, I think in the best case you can expect to self teach for at least a year before even considering applying for positions. And this assumes you are disciplined to practice and learn on a regular basis, and that you've even planned a good curriculum for yourself.

Yeah I asked when other people started
hoping to get an average of what their timelines looked like

I'm trying to put in the effort in learning consistently, but if I know an approximate time maybe it would help me feel more confident or like I'm way far behind then I should be

You can be doing simple tutorials in a couple of weeks, but learning the language syntax is only the start. It takes years to be any good.

I started a Python course on Udemy, like halfway into it, I feel it does a huge jump from the basics to expecting a whole lot
kinda discouraged me but I know it's no walk in the park

I think you need to be actually coding to learn anything. Maybe look at this course:

A lot of people start learning in college. 4 years later and they're super noob at their first entry level job. they can't really do anything without a lot of handholding.

it's going to depend on you and your dedication. if you treat it like a job and dedicate 40h/week to it, you'll be way better than the typical person who just spends a few hours a week on it.

yeah, it seems I will have to devote myself to it
I've been struggling lately but hoping 3-4 hours a day after work will be enough :/
