I used to hunt using the netstat -n| find "4000" but that aint working for me. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. D2R does not use port 4000.

Get TCPView from Microsoft, search for D2R.exe and sort by Latest. The IP of the game will show as the most recent and highlight in green when you enter a game.
