It really opened a ton of builds with out needing to use op sets. The only set that was needed was LoN rings.
For only D2 players:
You could basically destroy Infinity with your cube and gain the aura passive and give your Merc a different weapon. Or burn your Enigma and get the teleport skill without needing to wear Enigma, so you could wear CoH or Viper etc. instead.
Makes us more mighty.
A way too powerful mechanic just like it is in D3, also it takes an items identity away.
The Moment you can use everything with everything is the Moment a D2 experience would become a D3 experience, which would be awful.
What makes D2 so special and D3 so generic is because of mechanics like the one you mentioned here. I would absolutely despise it.
