This. You might be safe with 1k hp and max block for 99% of runs, but there's always that one confluence of shit that will ruin you in an instant.

Isn't that the case with any1 in HC? My 87 hammerdin with pretty good gear just died to some perfect storm mob. Died before I could even react regardless of max resist, 1.6k hp, etc.

Sure you can get lucky and fly by without them reacting at all but sometimes that chat window pops up or you hit a wall or chest… better be ready to take some hits

Aight I'll give you some tips. You have to build and gear your sorc completely differently than what the guides say. Most guides only pay lip service to HC by saying "put points into dex for max block and wear SS". This is good advice but not nearly enough unless you're uber geared.

Here's what I did with my sorc. She earned all of my FG since launch:

1. I went orb instead of blizzard to free up points.
2. I put 20 into teleport to get to 1 mana cost. I don't even notice mana burn anymore.
3. I don't just gear for FCR, I also gear for FHR. I wear bloodfist, blade buckle, and kira's guardian on my sorc. Totally weird, but it lets me hit a high enough FHR to still tele out if I get hit.

That eliminates two key reasons why you die: mana burn and hit lock. Also aim for 63 fcr breakpoint. I've found that with any less it's too sketch.

and you still clear fast enough/ have enough MF to be efficient with that build? I mean I guess so with 45k FG. You say that's just since d2R release? Damn... feeling like donating some to a charity? The "jakejames" charity?

To answer your questions:

Yes, I kill just fine in hell P1. It's obviously a low damage, single-element build, so I just do what it's good at: meph, andy, AT.

My slots:
Kira guardian (for +20 fhr)
Skullder's
Bloodfist (for +30 fhr)
Bladebuckle (for +30 fhr)
Waterwalk (for 15 dex and + life)
Mosers with 2 pdiamonds
Suicide branch
2x rare fcr rings
1x blue mf amulet

Gull and rhyme on switch.

Inventory is stuffed with life charms.

You don't need expensive gear to be effective. If I find a shako or arach, I'm selling it asap. If I lose this sorc, I've lost at most 300 fg worth of value.
