Ok so my problem is my loading times
To join a game it takes about a minute drives me nuts
My in game play is fine my laptop only has a hdd I heard if switching to an ssd will improve loading times ? Can anyone vouch this ?
And also do they make external ssd ?
Let me know thanks guys !
What I did was to just unpack my casc files using cascview. Usually the game will access the packed archives of those data files, by unpacking those loading them directly you gain a fair boost in loading times at the cost of rarely having some artifacts and ~30gb space.
I did use casc view from http://www.zezula.net/en/casc/main.html
Short guide would be:
Unpack anywhere, doing so in your d2r directory means you wont have to search the directory later though.
Launch it, then select the data folder
inside the game folders data folder (screenshot)

move those 3 folders into your d2r data folder (d2r/data/) not (d2r/data/data)
finally go to your battle.net d2r options and tick additional command line arguments. Input the following and save.
-direct -txt
Do this after every patch, to ensure you are using the most up to date data files, Using modified data files online is against their ToS. I didn't run into any issues using the vanilla files in extracted state so far(unmodified).
-edit-
also using a ssd is probably the biggest speed boost for any system. HDD's are incredibly slow in comparison
