legion 5 pro is about 2,000.00$ at walmart.

the i7 10750h benches about the same as the ryzen 7 5800h

the only real difference between these 2 laptops is the screen
1600p 165hz vs 1080p 300hz

you would have paid 200$ more for a higher screen resolution.

no need to return it unless you want the higher screen resolution.

So let's review the stats/specs first, and then compare them to your use/purpose with reasonable common sense.

CPU - Intel i7 10750H vs AMD Ryzen 5800H

You can search this and those results along with the stats/specs, will show the AMD better. But just how much better? Not enough maybe. Folks here are arguing a few percentage difference. In common sense terms, someone is arguing they want their fucking penny back when they see an item for sale at $19.99 and you give a $20.
So yes, the AMD is better, technically speaking. But can you live with the Intel i7 10750H? Yes, you should be able to live with without the fucking penny returned to you. It's not going to make you claim bankruptcy in court.

Monitor - 1080 @ 300Hz vs 1600 @ 165Hz

You can also search for this to determine which is better, technically speaking. But to generalize, more pixels (higher resolution) the better quality. Same concept or general trend towards comparing Hz. Now let's use common sense, starting with Hz. Unless you're a competitive FPS gamer, are you going to tell the difference between 165Hz or 300Hz? Maybe you can and maybe you can't. I can't tell 120Hz vs 160Hz. At 120Hz or higher, it's the same to me.

With pixels, at 1080 vs 1600, yes, I can tell the difference. So while the 1600 @ 165Hz makes more sense and fits my use/purpose better, can I live with 1080 @ 300Hz? Yes. But you're stuck with 1080 @ 300Hz and that's only going to help for FPS games if you can see the difference. Otherwise, get an external monitor and use the higher resolution on that external monitor to play games. This is a easy work-around solution.

to give another opinion, the legion is overall the better system.

for me personally I would rather have the resolution in this case than the FPS in regards to the screens, and overall the 5800h and higher power on the GPU will give you a much better experience, the 5800h will age better.

I don't think most people would notice or miss the difference between 165 and 300 but would notice the resolution.

Resolution is a massive thing when it comes to computing.

The difference between 1080p and 1600p is VERY noticeable to the eye

whereas the difference between 165 and 300hz is very hard to measure with the eye [if you are even running above 165 fps to begin with is a better question].. 1600p @ 165hz is a far better viewing platform ainec

What they are also mentioning which is quite important to the overall performance of the laptop is that the 3070 is throttled down and under powered, forcing you down to a resolution it can handle

They are trying to tell you that a major portion of the model specs in your current laptop are misleading and the better option for 2021 gaming is the legion

But if you think you got a good deal and you want other people to validate your purchase then go with the guys justifying 1080p on a 80w 3070 as a good option lol

the real fact of the matter is that the legion 5 pro that urbanidiot is suggesting that you should have got for your money, doesn't actually exist. again the legion 5 pro with an rtx 3070 is 2000.00$

his hp omen was 1500$. its like a 500$ price difference for roughly the same performance just less of a screen.

actually turned out to be $1,400 ($1,408.75 to be exact) so really it was ~$600 price difference :P

Edit: thank you guys for the additional input! Yea the screen is fine for the price. Happy with my purchase :)
