Given your use case, I don't see a need to upgrade. I mean for shits & giggles, you can upgrade the RAM.

Another upgrade you can do for even more shits & giggles is modernizing the motherboard, CPU, SSD and RAM. The video card can remain the same given your use case.

thanks for taking the time out of your day, I have recenlty got back into D2R (for how long will remain to be seen) and everytime I play it my processor/heat sync go nuts and sounds like a jet plane. Given that I casually play that, but don't want to hear a rocket ship every time I do, do you have any suggestions at that point?

What's your current CPU cooler?

Are you sure it's your CPU cooler fans going high speed or your GPU?

i think the cpu cooler but im not 100% sure. whenever i start up d2 the fan sounds very loud. I took it off yesterday to blow some dust out and noticed the thermal paste could probably be reapplied. this pc is 10~ years old.
pretty basic coolmaster cpu fan, not sure how to tell the model

Sounds like you should upgrade your CPU cooler. You can either go with AIO (water cooled, all in one) or move forwards a beefy heat sink air cooled.

You need to first look inside your PC case and see its dimensions. If you're going with a beefy heat sink, check the width of the case and compare that to the height of the heat sink.

If you're going with an AIO, make sure you have enough space in the PC case to mount top/rear/front.

Looking up the thermal limits for the AMD FX-8350, that is higher than it can handle. So get a new CPU cooler if you don't want to invest in modernizing your motherboard and such.

Temps are fine.

Unless your willing to invest in pretty much everything. U might benefit from another 8gb ram.

The system is just too old for any logical upgrades.

Go with a 120 AIO this will bring the tamps way down if they concern you.

but yes upgrade the ram to 16gb

Minor upgrades can go a long way to keep your system going for another year or 2
