You've set the bar really low with your question.

You might as well go to Dell or HP and buy the cheapest PC you can find since you're just using it for web browsing and online forms.

Or better yet, the cheapest ChromeBook you can find.

Yeah sorry, I mean we dont really use them for anything super demanding, but they are super old and slow, they have windows xp, some our work sites arent even supported on it anymore, and having multiple chrome windows open the computer just cant really handle it, so we are looking to upgrade them.

One of my friends suggested a work station?

Dell has there precision series and he recommend that.
Want do you think about that?

Yes, that Dell Precision desktop should be enough for your business use, which is web browsing and filling out forms or doing paperwork. The only part that concerns me is the 8GB RAM, you can't be going crazy with like 20 PDFs open, MS Outlook, a web browser, etc. For example, I look at engineering drawings all the time and with 8GB RAM, I can't open 10+ PDF without the computer being slow on 8GB RAM. But if your use case is lighter than mine, then 8GB RAM will be enough.

Throwing in another suggestion that's within budget but unfortunately out of stock, see the link below.

Is this something that will be used in an office or at home? Is the boss allowing you to pick a computer (desktop or laptop) of your choice?

Office work
Several employees will use the computers
We need 4 computers for the office
Is there a better computer with 16gb of ram you recommend?

Perhaps I can show him both options
1 cost effective option
2 one a little more pricey but better

Lmk what you think

You can contact dell and provide them your requirements and they will make recommendations based on that. They will sometimes knock money off for business purchases and bulk purchases.

I looked at HP, Dell and Lenovo/ThinkCentre brands only. I only provided the HP link because it's on sale, but in general, these desktops seem to break the $1000 USD budget if 16GB RAM is picked.

So it's just an unrealistic budget?
Is there another price point you recommend?

Thank you for all the feedback

I'm not saying it's an unrealistic budget. I think it's realistic and possible. The HP link I provided shows them on sale for just over $800.

Getting 16GB RAM, puts your budget at $1100, so your boss may be ok with this.

As someone said earlier, calling HP/Dell/Lenovo and seeing what they can offer is an option too. When you do speak to them, the two main specifications you want are 1) Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5, and 2) 16GB RAM.
