Beep Boop

I really just want to be able to smoothly play d2r, bioshock and destiny 2 on occasion.

Heres my poop:

CORSAIR H100 (over 6 years old i think) Cooler
Intel Core i5-2500K Cpu
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo
Patriot 16GB Viper III DDR3 Ram
XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 1386MHz OC+, 8GB GDDR5 Gpu
OCZ ZX Series 850W Fully-Modular 80PLUS Gold Psu

Lmk where I could use an upgrade, if any. I assume my mobo needs a change, but idk.
I build this from here several years ago. I trust yall. :)

Depends on your budget really, trying to pay as little as possible? Sadly going for a newer cpu for example means new mobo and potentially new Ram, unless you stick with older stuff and ddr3

Not trying to pay as little as possible, but I'm thinking if several things are way too old, then I'll probably have to just rebuild a new pc and make this one my backup.
I'd love more feedback/suggestions.

I think everything is too old. You're using an Intel 2nd gen CPU. We're now at 12th gen. I recommend a substantial upgrade and the only thing you should re-use is the GPU.

Dang, I was afraid of this.

Is right now a bad time to buy or should I wait for black friday?

So you have two upgrade options here depending on your budget.

If your budget is limited, then you can upgrade the CPU and motherboard, while still reusing the same RAM. I'm having a hard time remembering and searching but I think you want to go up to Intel 5th gen CPU. And find a motherboard compatible with that CPU. This will probably force you to search the used markets such as eBay or Mercari.

If you want to take advantage of Black Friday, then you might as well modernize it by getting yourself all new computer parts.

In both situations, re-use the same GPU. Unless you got lucky and got one of the current generation GPU.

Okay I think I might build a new one with black friday coming. I'm actually a bit excited to build another one anyway.
I mainly just play d2r and bioshock, so I don't need anything too outrageous. I paid 150 for this card new about a year ago right before the price gouge so ideally I'd like to keep that, if anything.

Any advice considering this for the upcoming black friday sale? I'm too out of touch with the pc market to comfortably build one myself. I'd be happy to donate some fg for part listing and sales searching. :D
