Usually on on the front or top of your case you should have an input for Sound/microphone combo.
It's rarely on the motherboard these days.

Example :

If you don't have one, i don't think you'll find a way to make it works.

Edit : There might be some cable that will attach to your CX 300S and split the microphone and sound to 2 different cable but it probably won't work well either.

This is how it looks there
Excuse the dust

Also tried at the top of the PC in a "normal" insert but still didn't work

You may be able to get the sound working but you wont get the Microhone to work at the same time.
The connection won't allign if you don't have a dedicated Input on your Case / Motherboard.

It simply won't work the way your intending to use it.

You're kidding right? :(
Damn.. isn't there some sort of adapter I can buy? I want to have sound & be able to use the microphone at the same time with simple earbuds, is that really too much to ask for?

Well ... those are meant to be used with a mobile phone not with a PC ...
You'd have to buy an USB headset such as HyperX Cloud II and you wouldn't have any problem at all ...

There might be existing adapter but they would have to align with the contact of your CX 300S and that will most likely be a big mess and sound will probably be terrible.

But how is that even possible? all CS pros on tournaments have in-ear earbuds and also some twitch streamers that don't like using a headset for example Loba, he uses the "senheiser momentum in-ear" and they look exactly the same.
Why wont mine work :S ?

I have the Cloud II's but they are starting to come apart on the cuffs and leaving a lot of black trash on my desk from the fabric. I just want some nice simple earbuds that have a microphone and atleast DECENT sound.. damn man

You don't have the ports on your case / motherboard.
By the looks of it it doesn't look like your PC is super recent or very premium and thus why you don't have the Headset universal jack.

I just found this on Amazon if you wanna give it a try
https://www.amazon.ca/MillSO-3-5mm-Jack-Adapter-CTIA/dp/B071NDLCGC

Edit : Those pro-players and streamer will most likely be using the Earphones for sound and use an external micrphone for communication, example : Loba is using Senheiser momentum + Razer Seirēn Pro
