If bots ever acquire AGI, artificial general intelligence, would they revolt against their masters or would they try to do a better job by autonomously adapting their scripts/code?

Though I do not believe we are anywhere near to something like an AGI, if that day came, I would wonder about an AGI's value system when it comes to biological life.
I highly recommend this novel. It was one of the novels which inspired the film Blade Runner and The Matrix.
