is going str and swords very bad to do on a rogue?

what abilities should i aim for if i am exploring and soloing?

the point is that rogue is significantly lower strength+vita total than either barb or fighter, fighter also has the more ideal ability. Another bonus being that fighter/barb can use chain/plate which are cheaper.

If you're specifically after maps, then use the td detection is what you need.
Would generally recommend staffs or daggers as 30 more starting dex is significant and staffs/daggers make better use out of that dex.

For solo power strike and retribution, at level 50-70 putting into doublestrike or salvation can be decent. Although ignoring both and just using the 2 abilities maybe be better.

do rogues natively detect trap doors or is there something i need to do

yes instead of just dropping through it there will be a note saying "you found a trap door press Z to enter"

got it. My whole reason for the rogue is to td detect. So i guess next run through I will need to start collecting daggers.

Rolling a str sword rogue will not hurt you that bad.

Roll swords so you can use on Sammy and then on paladin.

Unless you plan on pushing classes which I do not think you are .

Both clubs and staffs are significantly cheaper than swords.
Agree that strength charms are cheaper than dex.





Also just realised i missed part of what i meant to say in my first post:

I'm not completely against what slush says though, using swords/clubs/axes isn't THAT bad and will do the job.
However no matter if you choose dagger/staff/axe or sword/club/axe i highly recommend using all 3 weapons.

IF your interest is in TD detection then why should you care what samurai (the next class you'd unlock) uses? as samurai doesn't TD detect so doesn't really fall consistently with your plan and if you do unlock the samurai i'd suggest you play rogue again.
This means rather than focusing on buying swords you can buy swords/clubs/axes for this climb.

Currently I have Powerstrike/Backstab on my Lv30 Rogue (no retribution). At what level do you think I should add retribution now that I’ve already started these two abilities?

River - you are one day ahead of my on each of your threads/questions. In a similar boat, started earlier this week with a Barb and got tired of not being able to complete maps (and hard stuck anyway due to gear) so creating a death farmer rogue.

get powerstrike to 51 (this should be 7 points total) then get retribution for the rest of your points. Backstab's usefulness is very limited when facing only 2 mobs, the chances both line up at the back row is around 1 in 12 when 2 mobs spawn.
