Obviously brighness is a monitor thing, but my question is, could be that some hardware piece may increasse brightness aswell? Per example a graphic card or processor, i know my question is a bit stupid but i want some good source to confirm that brightness is only a monitor thing, and pc hardware has nothing to do.

Note : a mate whos good on pcs told me that maybe graphic card would change (maybe)

If i wasnt clear enough let me know

I don't know what your specs are, but you can change brightness by the monitor's OSD menu, and from within the graphics driver.

Well the brightness on my DELL U3011 OSD is 0%, so I'm having trouble thinking it's "all monitor".

f.lux is a good program for time-dependent dimming. Turns your brightness down at night and up during the day.

peak brightness (cd/m² ) is always determent by the backlightning/led lighting of you monitor.
You can always use a software to to adjust it somewhat. but when pushing your monitor over its maximum capacity the result will just be a bleached/washed out image (basically just making it whiter, not brighter)

There are certain tricks they use like add more white to the screen to make it appear brighter, and If you're already at 100% monitor brightness and need more, I would mess around with the control panel(NVIDIA possibly)- Brightness and Contrast. You need both of them in order to make it look brighter yet still look clean.

By just adjusting ONLY the brightness your screen will become really white and look bad, which is why you need the contrast as well. Best way is to mess with it and see what suits you best.

Be careful not to put brightness all the way to 0 because it can be very hard to change it back, as your screen will go completely black.

Your monitor cannot be overclocked on brightness though so if it's 100% brightness already, I'd say your best bet is to do what I've mentioned above.

Hope this helps :)
