i couldn't find a clear answer, 10900k or 11900k?
or the new i5?
kind of confusing, budget is not a problem, i do want it to be my main pc and i use virtual machines and need the multiple cores power(but its mainly for gaming, want the maximum power for gaming, doesnt have to be main pc for everything if theres specific cpu just for gaming)

im gaming on 4k, will get the 3080 ti, or 3090, depends what will be worth getting, buying in the next 2 months.

and again, budget, not a problem, what ever it costs.

i will overclock and get the maximus extreme mobo.

if anyone has good info on this, please share :)

I think Intel i5 is the bare minimum for gaming. But since you'll be doing more than that, i5 won't be sufficient.

You'll be running VM and plan to overclock, so I think Intel i9 10th gen is your best option. Reason why I recommend that over the 11th gen is the core count, 10th has 10 cores and 11th has 8 cores.

I should note that the 10th gen doesn't have PCIe Gen4.

I was also an Intel Fanboi.

I cannot recommend the AMD 5900x enough, best upgrade I ever made to my PC.

Better FPS in games then the i9-11900k and more cores to boot.

If gaming only
at 4k cpu matters less but does depend on game
So aim at what other things you do

If you are really just doing gaming, then either of those will work. You will likely only see a few percent difference.
