Hi

Looking to buy a new pc in time for release of resurrected. Have older monitors with 60hz which i plan on keeping if no one makes a compelling case why i should replace them. Pretty much only game d2.

So what hardware will be needed to run 2560x1440 at high or ultra with >= 60 fps?

Just how much of a FPS increase are you looking for on a 60Hz monitor?

I'm not sure if you searched on Google like "how much FPS can I get on 60Hz monitor" but...60Hz is 60FPS unless you don't use the mouse or you're looking at a stationary picture.

As to answer your question on focusing the 1440 resolution, I think RTX 2000 series is a good start to 1440 gaming. GTX 1660 can do it, but I think you won't like the experience.

If you lower resolution to 1080, then GTX 1660 should suffice.

Thanks,

Im not sure i understan what you mean but my undersstanding is that fps over 60 will be wasted on my current monitors since they only have 60 hz. I was thinking it might be good with a little wiggle room if certain moments of play or situations are more taxing on the system than others.

But yes basically I want steady 60 fps on 1440 with ultra or high settings.

You said 2000 series is a good start... Are we talking 2070? What about 3060 or 3060 ti - should be fine?

I misunderstood your greater or equal than sign (>=) 60FPS. I thought you were looking for 1440 resolution with greater than 60FPS, while using the same monitor.

RTX 2000 series does also include the 2070.

You can also use RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti.

If you don't wanna shell out twice the amount and are okay with a slight performance cut: GWTN156-3BK

It's a $700 laptop with an rtx2060mobile (about 15% slower than a 2060 desktop) and i5-10300h (I think currently the fastest laptop i5). Add a 2nd ram stick ($50), add a 2nd m.2 ($50), and boom.. $800 laptop that can play D2R at the built in display's 120hz at 1080.. so I'm thinking it will stay above 60 at 1440 most of the time.

Anyway, just a cheaper option than deskytop right now because supply and demand is crazy.

EDIT: oh this is an old post..

Thank you for your post. I havent acted on anything yet so input is still welcome.

As you say the market is pretty crazy so I'm keeping my eyes open and trying to wait as long as possible. GPU's seem to have become easier to come by and a little cheaper than just a month ago. Hoping that trend will continue.
