I think this should be a part of the current blocking system. Once you block someone they lose privilege from viewing your profile on top of the other restrictions.

i don't mean to hijack your topic but here is another option (especially for those who don't wish to see that button on user profiles).
you usually block someone while writing with them or while reading their post.
oh and the post-header seems empty anyway sooo adding another button to it might be good too:

To be at Heart with it, if you need to block someone then a good or close first step would be not looking at their profile.

Also why do you feel this needs to be implemented on our site? As a dedicated member here I feel kind of confused. You are currently Staff. I feel much safer knowing I can pm staff at any time over the reasons they wish to Staff for. I certainly don't have anyone blocked, and if I do I would not wish for it long term while wanted to be here and helpful for so many other different individuals. While you suggest this I also have a concern that it could lead to poor performance of some staff because they may decide to block someone for the wrong reasons while having such access and standalone blocking feature. Meanwhile it could also lead to increased amount of work load for staff because more members are prone to blocking someone and it could be strictly biased off a profile view, while the other member that has been blocked may have absolutely no clue what is going on and more.

This feature is already located where we feel is the correct location (the bottom of your pm box and also the top right of every single pm you receive), which is it's primary function, to block private messages. We feel that adding this to the users profile will add confusion and may send the message that you're blocking the user globally and from every feature on the site when that isn't true. Furthermore we'd like to avoid making the function of blocking of a user something you see daily when viewing profiles or in post 32 on topics. This feature should be used as a last resort, the result of an unfavorable private conversation exchange and nothing more.

For the reasons explained above we will not be adding this. Thanks for taking the time to submit your suggestion.
