You know i do like the sound of that but do you think everyone has the entrepreneurial spirit in them to make this work as organizations get larger? I feel like some inevitable heirarchy would break out at supposedly flat organizations as they get larger, valve comes to mind as an example
I can’t speak for everyone and can only offer anecdotes.
In the collective company I work for and the ones near me locally, people who do not want to vote on company decisions do not have to. There are always people who just want to make money so they can fund their private lives. The system still works when those people stay out of the decision making process.
In the country of my birth there is a very mixed perception of socialism because right-wing groups equate authoritarianism with socialism as if they were the same thing. It is important to note that authoritarianism is a form of government, while socialism is an ideology and an economic system. Socialist democracy can exist.
It is also important to note that no ideology, governmental or economic system is designed to withstand shitty people who desire power above all else. Shit will always float to the top. There will always be Woodrow Wilsons and Putins using existing systems to seize and hold power and there will always be another Castro or another Stalin to exploit revolutionary sentiment to seize power. This is a common argument that does not really hold up. Woodrow Wilson intentionally spreading Spanish Flu to Europe does not make capitalism a failure any more than Castro’s purges and famines make socialism a failure.
