So I recently built a computer and start up takes forever. The screen is black and nothing happens for a solid 20-30 minutes, like the mobo doesn't even post for that long or something. Then it loads up and works fine.

If I restart it there are no issues, it posts and boots instantly. Only happens after turning it off for a period of time.

Windows 10
MSI Mortar B550
Ryzen 5 3600
Radeon RX570
G.Skill ram (compatible and in the correct slots)

- How long have you had this PC for?
- Is it a prebuilt or did you build it yourself?

Myself.

Had video card since 2019, was in previous build and worked fine no issues.

Bought new mobo, cpu and ram 2 months ago. Been having the issue since building, not something that just started happening.

You could just try to re-seat everything. Possible that something is loose or not seated properly :O

Another thing as well you could try is to make sure your BIOS is updated to the newest version and just your BIOS for any boot-related settings (like make sure UEFI boot is enabled). Also maybe check the boot order and make sure your system is trying to boot to something other then the hard drive your OS is on.

Honestly I'm just guessing right now lol.

Try booting it without your Ethernet cable plugged in or if you’re using wifi turn it off, perhaps it’s getting stuck in a windows repair/update/driver loop

I’ve seen similar things happen when there are gpu driver issues… running display driver uninstaller then installing a freshly downloaded copy of your gpu driver may help

Download the new driver and DDU first

Disconnect internet

Run DDU, allow to clean and restart, make sure no internet or it will install via windows update as the comp reboots

Install new driver

Reconnect internet

Like th others said it may also be a bios/hard drive issue as well

Also double check with cpu-z or hwinfo64 type of software and make sure all your RAM is reporting as they should

When it's sitting and waiting for that 20+ minute period, are you able to launch Task Manager? If so, go to the Services tab, and look for the service called AppReadiness. Stop that service, and see if the desktop loads. If it does, install updates.
