No microcenter unfortunately
Right now I have a 1920x1080 144hz Asus monitor, don't really see a reason to upgrade monitor unless you think I can maintain 250+ fps in games like overwatch/valorant
Wouldn't mind paying a little more to stay away from AMD

Most monitors can't display fps above 144 so it wouldn't matter, a 3080 could easily run Overwatch and Valorant in 2k

Considering my 2080S gets 300+ frames at 1440 in those games, your 3080 will be fine

CPU - Intel i7 11700K
CPU cooler - Noctua NH-D15
Motherboard - Z590 chipset motherboard...not sure which brand you prefer.
RAM - Because of the CPU cooler, I recommend Corsair LPX 16GB or 32GB. Perhaps 32GB if you're streaming and have multiple windows open. 3200MHz is the start but I don't recommend any higher than 3600MHz. Just not necessary for gaming/streaming.
Storage - Get a Gen3 SSD (like Samsung 970 or Western Digital 750) unless you really want a Gen4 SSD (like Samsung 980 or Western Digital 850)
Case - Fractal Design Meshify 2 or Corsair 5000D
PSU - I think for the 3080 the recommended PSU is a 850W.

Quick follow-up regarding the RAM
I have "leftover" 16GB (2x8GB) sticks of corsair (DDR4, 3000MHz) from a previous build
can I toss these in alongside the 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4/3000MHz that I purchased new? I read elsewhere that I should "stagger" them?
What do I need to check to make sure it's compatible?

Yes, you can mix the two RAM pairs. I don't recommend it because you won't be getting their full use. One of the pairs will have to downgrade itself to match the timing.

In addition to the speed (MHz), there is the CAS/CL spec. So even though they may have the same speed, the CAS/CL timing can be different. You should double check these values to make sure they're as identical on paper.

I'm not sure how exactly you mean stagger. The RAM slots are (from CPU to out) A1, A2, B1, B2. When you have two sticks, they go in the same number (A2, B2). So when you mention stagger, I'm not sure which stagger configuration you're referring to. But it would be one pair on 2's and another pair on 1's.

Finally won a shuffle and got myself a 3080.

Anyone have a build for gaming I can purchase and build to fully utilize this?
Thanks!

Go AMD all the way.

5950X in stock at MSRP.

I've got a 5800x, PRIME X-570 Pro and 3080ti Founders Edition. 280 Arctic AIO. Stress tests on both the CPU and GPU I'm hitting ~65 degrees. Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL. Pretty much crushing everything I can throw at it.
