Hello,

I will not be sharing a photo here as my blocked page is private.

It has come to my attention that users do not need to be blocked indefinitely.

I was wondering what the Community here thinks about adding a timer option to auto-remove someone from a blocked list.

I believe this would help bring a variety of the community together and in better terms. I also believe it would give users who end up blocking people an easier time removing someone they wish not to block indefinitely, as they would no longer have to view everyone that is on their blocked list during a removal. I feel a variety of good could come out of this for our site and our Community, and I believe people who are reasonable would enjoy this feature.

Do you think this could benefit our site? Take a vote and lets see what happens. :)

Thanks for checking!

If someone blocks another user, there will be a reason for it and in my opinion, it does not have to be time-limited.
If i want to unblock the user for whatever reason, then I do that.

Nope.

If someone is blocked, you can unblock them when you are ready.

I find it the other way around :o , it is more if when they are ready. I personally do not wish for anyone to be blocked but it does stop a user from breaking forum violations and more. Again that is why I feel it can be the other users that determines if they should get blocked or not.

While it may be true one should only unblock a person when they are ready, some people are always ready and just do not wish to deal with someone currently breaking site rules or more. Later, tomorrow or another time may be a better day, but it would also be nice if one did not have to review other people whom they have had to block during that process.

You are certainly right it does not have to be time-limited, and I am not suggesting that. I'm suggesting the time-limit as an option.

No,

To me this idea adds up. If someone is breaking the site rules or someone is being annoyed by another users then members our community could now temporary block people instead of just blocking them. It also gives the user who blocked a member a chance to see an end to a negative beginning, in a positive way and closer to the start.

This also gives users who are blocked a chance to know they may be on a temporary blocked list. While this may not seem that important, our site recognizes people by some principles like mentioned in Words of Wisdom. I believe implementing this site suggestion could begin a transition of the idea Just Block Them to You can temporary Block Them, Repeat block if necessarily, and so on.

To answer the poll: no I would not use it.
It simply blocks the private messages. You can still communicate by other means to see if you change your mind about the person or not. No reason to complicate it.
