Question about Trap Doors.

What does this do?

Make Monsters stronger?

Is it worth just re creating a map?

Rather than keeping a trap door map open...?

I've dropped through about 7 trap doors in the same map and am getting a bit tilted bc I can never complete the map and the monsters are getting stronger and stronger.

Just wondering what other people experience...

Is it worth restarting from fresh or does Trap Door provide some extra benefit apart from strong monsters? Like better drops?
AFAIK I am getting tier 1-5 mostly :(

P.S. I am just MFing =) so don't need to exp etc...

Monsters get harder, some see better drops
Rogues and other classes have td detection so maybe try that character

I personally find that if you fall through a trap door, that map you fall into is going to have a Trap door and so on.
like Labatt suggested, play a rogue as they can detect the trap doors.

why thought? can you clear a map if you go to all the non trap door spaces? otherwise why not just leave once you fall in?

It gives you the option to go down by pressing Z or continue on

When you fall in, the mobs are higher level than your character, so yes generally the item quality will be better.

As for finishing them, I don't find the final square maps to be anything special over finishing a regular maze, but thats not based in any hard data.

You were unlucky.

Use character that you like to run "Catacombs" and hope there are no TDs... you don't have to be a Rogue.
Just create a game and then edit game and leave it and start again... note: I always create a game solo'ing, when I fall in a TD, I just press F, Edit Group and Leave game, then create a new game... jump in and carry on.

You can also do this for what you call mf'ing... we would call that "EP" (Evil Presence) hunting... if the size of the maze (while in a catacomb) explored means a lot of backtracking over explored areas, you remake the game to start from fresh to hunt more EPs.

If you are map hunting (completing a catacomb to get a map on the last spot), I would suggest to fully explore up until your character level is like 40, after that and trying to complete a catacomb for a map is not really worthwhile for the time and effort completing a large catacomb for the chance of getting a Tier I map while in the hopes of getting like a Tier XIV (55) map... then you have to hope the mods are good and hope it isn't just Rare with 2 Quantity & 85% Warm Light effectiveness.

But, it is up to you... you can get higher Tier maps from completing catacomb at character level... so if you clear a catacomb @ level 30, it could be level 40 or 45 Map (if lucky).

Note: play how you want, my points are just other avenues you could look at.
