merc's are already pretty broken with the runewords they can use etc. they'd have to buff monsters at that point

Buff act 3 merc and that’s it. Maybe slight boost to 1 or 5. Maybe not

I know mercs are an integral part of the PvM process, but they always felt a bit like cheating to me. It opens up problems in with the lore/story/setting. I wish I was high for this:

How come you can only hire 1 mercenary?
Why don't they get any of the fame/accolades for literally defeating Diablo with you?
What is different about their physiology that they can't wield other pieces of equipment?
Why don't they get quest benefits, are you stealing all the glory for yourself and claiming full credit?
Why do the Iron Wolves (the most badass name) suck the most? And actually cast spells instead of having anything to do with wolves OR iron?
Why is there no Act4 merc? Pandemonium is supposed to be a fortress.
Why don't barbarians get a discount for hiring their brothers? And for that matter, are they too low IQ to learn moves from the hero barbarian himself? Merc AI suggests this to be plausible.

Yea that's the type of change I don't mind too much, in Path of Diablo 2 you can equip many items on merc and its fine. That's not game breaking. I still think they should make a classic ladder with no change and a modern ladder with changes. Give people the option to play in the ladder they want

Wow... sure you wasn’t high for this? Maybe a little left over from the morning?

/e very good points tho.... I mean, I got the gold to hire, why only 1 for realz.... point me to a mod where you can hire multi mercs... and for real... w the proper STR, a sorc could wield a thunder maul, but the barb can’t pick up a staff and swing it like a big stick?

No need extra slots for merc gears.
Weapon armor and helm is plenty and they can use rune words already. We are the main player, the merc is a companion
