Depends... how do heart meds change a persons interpretation like yours? Or are you saying you are a frequent user?

Got to admit, Filipino Stick fighting art is used in modern fighting techniques even in some countries police force or military and navy combat tactics. Aikido is also known to be used with some USA police force (Dependent on State)... Muay Thai is more for sport fighting, and the traditional practice is mostly held in Thailand.

MMA vs UFC or NMA ... vs Muay Thai Boxing.

So, what part of the topic does your post relate to? A comment based on Asian, or the actual topic relating to Muay Thai? Guess your meds do need topping up.

uwot.. o,O TKD did have some influence from japanese karate, its wrong to say that it originated from japanese martial arts. any time muay thai faced kickboxing it was a one sided beatdown. there was no event where the kickboxer that annihilated the best muay thai fighter since the best muay thai fighters back then did not fight outside of thailand. changepeuk was pretty much the only one who went and competed vs any style and any weight class in any rule set even if the rules favored his opponent (no knees/clinch/elbows etc.). Theres a reason why karate styles such as kyokushin even became a thing since they were influenced by muay thai.

anyways at OP, i think im one of the few here that actually pays attention to muay thai or fights in general outside of the UFC. muay thai, one fc, glory, k1, sanda/sanshou, kyokushin karate are all quite exciting imo =)

or people here only likes ufc

Iirc a lot of the regular posters here know the bigger names/legends in the sport. But even then those may not necessarily be the best, just the ones who are able to gain notoriety by fighting outsiders.

Part of the reason it’s not talked about much here tho is it’s a long history of fighting to catch up on and not as accessible as these large mma promotions now. Bit more of a barrier of entry, and time to be invested making it seem a bit daunting.

Nitrogenperoxide is prob one of the few actually deep into it you could actually discuss with. He sent me some fights to watch and names to look out for to get deeper into it back in the day.

Totally true. most of those "bigger names" didnt fight a thai in years.
and yea i agree with you. its kinda hard to have some real knowledgement of Muay thai. Too many names and the way to judge the fights are waaaaaay harder than a mma match

Guess I am oldschool... Terry Hill (kickboxer) around 1987 beats the Muay Thai champion (maybe a year or 2 earlier) then.

Western TKD / Kickboxing tournaments during that time, and the winner takes on Muay Thai champions... a lot of history lost... 70s / 80s and now everyone in 2000+ can not discern the evolution in either Martial Arts were developed from combinations... Master Yun International Tae Kwon Do also had affiliations with Hapkido (similar to Aikido).

Those that researched, understood the basics of Judo will understand that Hapkido and Aikido took the principle of Judo and evolved its' basic concept to create that style of Martial Arts... same as Jujitsu with multitudes or schools that came about later with the principle of Karate (or Kara-te-do... the old name of Karate before it was changed... Note: check the history as I maybe slightly incorrect... Kara-ti-te-do maybe the true name).
