Bots have clearly kept the game alive
First, bots have provided the majority of the income that blizzard has made off the game. Without the money from cd keys, blizzard couldn’t justify keeping the game servers up
Secondly, bots have kept prices low for everyone to be able to play the game. Without these lower prices, people would fall off the game due to the intense grind because of the itemization concepts around this game make it virtually impossible for a legit person to gear a character without the help of bots
Thirdly, bots have made leveling easier, even if you don’t not yourself. The good runs with minimal deaths that are fast gets people able to level up quicker and able to start finding their own gear quicker.
Fourth, bots enable pvp to happen at a large scale every ladder season. Even with mass bots, it takes 1-2 months for pvp to get off the ground. Without bots, it would take longer than the ladder season for pvp to become viable. And with pvp being viable, it gives the small amount of pvm only people a market to sell to. Without the pvp people, the game dies.
This game is just incredibly to much of a grind without bots to hold peoples attention for a long time. Thank god for the bots.
exploiting real $ loopholes on jsp has kept BOTTING alive, and d2 just happens to be the easiest to bot because its old and blizz doesnt put any effort to stop it
most botters wouldnt bot if they lost their little side $ hussle
