So I was going to do two custom builds one for me and my gf, but didn't realize just how incredibly f'ed gpu availability is due to shortage/scalpers.

I bought a ryzen 5600 setup for the girlfriend with no gfx card as ill be giving her my old 1070 ftw as a temp.

I was going to do a 5800x build with a 3070 for myself, but now I can buy a 3070. My friend offered me a hardly used Ryzen 3700x 2070 super setup for 1,400. Do I buy that and upgrade gfx card later or buy pre-built with 3070 for 2k?

TLDR: GPU shortage screwed me idk what to do on the mean time. Any ideas or advice is appreciated

It may be a good idea to buy your friend's computer for $1400 and upgrade later on. I think we need the specifications on the motherboard and see what features it has, or its upgrade capabilities. I'm thinking, after you buy your friend's computer, you can upgrade the CPU & GPU at a later date.

Some of my peers had luck getting GPU directly from the manufacturer. You could also try for 'broken' units on auction sites, I bought a few, some were not broken just had driver errors, another had a fan failure, others were broke as hell, just resold as broken again.
