Really dumb decision that unfortunately cost him his life. The ACLU was on the right track years ago when they were teaching people how to survive police encounters.
He introduced an enormous amount of risk into the situation and the female officer made a terrible mistake.
If we have to have school shooting drills for the very rare chance that a mass shooting happens, we should probably have "police drills" so that kids know how to deal with police. We need to teach people to be safe (hands on wheel, car off, don't run, don't assault, etc.) but we also need to teach people to not incriminate themselves. Cops are necessary but they are our adversaries.
I agree that the kid was dumb and he shouldn't have run. It seems like the woman was charged with manslaughter which is appropriate. If cops are successfully prosecuted and there is accountability, that will go a long way IMO.
