Tell me your unbiased opinion, during a test drive for a sports car, the throttle wire snapped because the buyer was test driving through gear 1~3 at around 70% to max RPM range, fast shifting (no grind or redlining).

Scenario: Throttle wire snapped, a car slide truck was called to the scene to pick the car up to repair the throttle wire, who should pay for the car slide truck and the throttle wire replacement+labor.

A: Owner of the car
B: Buyer of the car (the driver that snapped the throttle wire)

Definitely owner's fault that the car sucks.

It is called a test drive, not a test your prone to breaking shitty car and pay for it drive.

If you were to remove the private party aspect.. If you go drive a new car at a dealership and the wheel falls off because the guy at the port sucks, are you gonna pay for it?
Absolutely not.

I had my throttle body snap one time. I was a dumbass and it was my fault.

Responsibility of the seller.

If it were something due to negligence, definitely the buyer. examples being....
-Hitting a curb or Rashing your rims
-Wrecking the car in any way collision wise

But a car should be able to handle 70% RPMs all day without problems if it is properly built/tuned/maintained. Especially since i'm assuming he's not nearly redlining a Toyota Corolla, it's likely a car that is meant to go fairly fast, so if it's breaking while he's trying to do what it's made to do..

I guess maybe if he was riding the rev limiter to the point where it caused damage that's a different story, but it sounds like he was just shifting close to or at redline, which the car definitely should be able to handle.
