For a top tier player u always OP.

These contracts almost always look bad at the end, but someone would have paid more if he hit free agency. The Tatis deal was better

It's hard to compare it to the Tatis deal though. Tatis still didn't even hit arbitration yet and had those years bought out. Tatis got 36m/yr for his FA years.

I definitely take the Tatis contract though because he'll be younger at the end and he can slide over to 3B easier.

I agree. At year 5-6 typically players figure out if they want to stay with an organization depending on how that oirganization is doing (winning/losing).

Hopefully as a met fan (myself) we do well! :)

Ideally they'll be doing well. Cohen just demonstrated he's not afraid to make something happen for the best of the team. It's be awkward paying $34m a year to a DH in 7 years, but I'd the Mets are great for that first 5 or 6, directly because of him, then it's worth it.

Especially if a ring or 2 could come out of it. I hope

Even if it's just one, the later Lindor years are worth it. If Cohen keeps this attitude up toward signing the right players and trying to build a winner, I think it's possible.

I think so too. We shall see how they run it all. I'm pretty excited but I won't get my excitement and hopes up too much. I know how my Mets do things. HA!

Absolutely. We'll have to see how the season plays out, but that might be just Old Mets. What was it they said in MIB2? Old n' Busted vs New Hotness? It'll be fun to see how everything plays out.

Conforto speaking to the media around 1:30 Eastern. More big news m

Fingers crossed. The RF market is a bag of peanuts compared to Mike. You almost gotta give him what he wants, no? I think it'll come down to whether he cares more about the potential big pay day or being a fairly compensated lifetime Met.

Welp, Harper really isn't pulled the weight as we can always see, from my opinion. He's just not the guy we all we'd see. Bryce was suppose to be that superstar that Trout and Betts is and he isn't...again just what I see. The telecast yesterday showed Acuna and Harpers first 3 years in the bigs and Acuna is tons ahead of him in stats. Its like not even close. I think Harper had him beat in slugging or something but that was about it.

Harper still gets on base at a very good rate. He isn't getting the insane numbers of his MVP year but he's still a solid All Star player with the potential to put up some 8+ WAR seasons.

Trout might go down as the best player ever so it is hard to compare them to each other now. Offensively Betts and Harper aren't too far apart. Lately Betts has definitely been better but Harper has shown he can do as good if not better. The defensive side of the game is what separates Betts from him. Harper is a liability on defense and Betts is great.
