Hi all, one silly question as i am kinda new to LS..

Is it ok to make a full str samurai? i have a nice long sword to use at lvl 55 so have been putting points in str + vita.. does this make sense? Or should i have been investing in dex instead?

I feel im quite weak at the moment around lvl 40..

Short story is that if you put 4 points of strength in, 3 of those will add to your damage. Whilst if you add Dex, only 1 in 4 dex points will add damage if you use swords.
Don't use daggers with a strength build as only 1 in 10 of those points add damage for daggers.

Keep sticking with swords. Swap to a level 45 sword asap, there should be some crap ones available on the market for 2 fg each.
Your armor is ok for now, ideally you'll want something else at level 55. as a level 55 scale with 0 ee should be similar if not higher defense.


Other than needing a weapon upgrade, you look fine. I would recommend going up to 80-90 vit, just so you can kill more before you start needing to regen.

Bigheaded had some useful info.

Anyway, I looked at your character... the Acc charm does NOTHING.

Get your Vitality base upto 75 minimum (Bigheaded stated 80+, good also)... the thing is this... 25 Vita stat = +1 Regen, so this helps when regen in town. So anything less that 100 is good for Hit points, but not regen.

What are your Abilities? Retribution & Powerstrike?... those are perfect for solo'ing.

You are a Barb and only have 5 Intelligence, but if you can find a decent level 35 heal type charm with 100% + ee and put this in the ACC slot, you should get like 5 or more Heal casts at your level to help before exiting catacomb.

Exit catacomb when you hit like under 50% hitpoints so you don't die and keep any prof points you gained instead of -20% from death.

Your Longsword can get you to 55, hard slog, and as bigheaded stated, switch to sword or club @ 45 if you have one with 50% ee or more to level 55 and switch to your 55 Longsword.

Im using power strike + two hit back skill btw..

Two Hit Back is a Samurai skill, and since you have NOT passed to a samurai, your charge up speed is slow per point you add to it, in retrospect, putting 3 points into retribution (being a barb ability) you will have a 48% charge up chance when being attacked and taking damage, which I would think is better.

Thanks, but as topic says it is a samurai help... I did my first MQ and now leveling a Samurai.. sorry if any confusion..
I guess in this case, investing on Power strike was not a good decision as it is charging slower than an actual Samurai skill?

Sorry, I looked at your profile and made my post based on your characters name (yup, I failed once again, lol).

Longsword reaction time is 1.8 seconds, normal weapons are 1 second, so this maybe the reason why you think Powerstrike charges up slower.

TwoHitBack charges based on damage taken (% chance to charge), so when you encounter 2-3 monster wave, it seems to charge faster because it is a Samurai skill (less points allocated to it for charge up speed) and you may get damaged in 1 second (monsters hitting you)

Powerstike is a good ability, but not with Heavy weapons most people will say, I personally would have gone with Retribution, charges up with hits taken as well.

Earlier was my mistake on comments sorry. Hope this little information was helpful for you to choose what is best for you.
