Not too bad

A couple years ago I did a budget htpc build based on this

I used my old Rampage III gene mobo popped out the i7-960 [Triple channel mem btw], and swapped in a xeon x5675 I decommed from an HP server

went with a 1050ti as it was plentiful and quite cheap at that time, I think $149 CAD

this configuration was actually quite impressive considering that xeon is a '09 bin, it OC'd to 4.5ghz without much issue however 4.6 was unstable

This old junk can tweak its RAM speeds/voltage? I am surprised...

easiest bios ever. another great thing about this board is that it supports sli and crossfire so i can easily upgrade this to a mining rig or dedicated server. i can put a i7 3770k for 8 logical core processor, this can take up to x2 2080ti if i want to push the gaming to 4k and it has a max capacity of 32 gb ram so i can go to a 16gb kit or 32 gb kit. oh and there is room to mount a blue ray player... so i can potentially match a ps5 or xbox series x with this rig if i wanted to.

very nice. i dont really like to oc processors or gpus b/c u risk burning them out fast or other technical failures especially with refurbished or used old hardware.

I ran a i7-860 from summer 09 until nov 20, for myself, then my wife, then my nephew, it's been overlocked as high as it's original corsair h50 cooler would let it the whole time

But I do understand being hesitant regardless, I have yet to OC my current cpu because it doesn't hinder my gpu in anyway in stock form, no need to stress it

I'm going to reinvest into another system build, and by donate i meant to like give it to someone who needs a computer lol.
I've got a brand new asus p9x79 lga 2011 been sitting in my closet for like a year and i want to build a budget 4k gaming rig.

Don't think 4k and budget goes together haha.
Maybe yes depending on what games you play. Hope you find a reasonably priced gpu.

all 4k needs is highend gpu and 16gb ram
cpu really doesnt matter

but then again gpu prices are just fucking ridiculous
