A while ago I bought this PC for $20 off a random dude and I had to drive for a couple of hours but I still think I got a great deal considering it comes with a 950w power supply. Anyway I upgraded this PC to a water-cooled AMD FX-8350, 8GB DDR3, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, GTX 660 Ti 2GB and sold it to a friend of mine. He is thinking of building a new pc I'd like to know your opinions on upgrading the motherboard, cpu, ram, hard drive and video card. I would say the budget is around $700. I am in Canada use newegg.ca or similar website please.

For 700 canadian dollars? I would overlock the old bulldozer to the sky, would buy another pair of 8gb of ddr3, and buy a new SSD for the system if you don't have one.

Currently anything new just the GPU would cost you at least 400 bucks, considering you plax AAA games 1080p. Try to fish a secondhand rx 570 or 1060 6gb from craigslist, best you can do.

if you want a reasonable new system you need to keep grinding some CAD i'm afraid

I see. Well forget about the hard drive then. What could I get with $800?

Oh yeah I use facebook marketplace or kijiji. The video card I use for my PC is a GTX 780 3GB that I bought for $30 CAD. Thanks for the advice, didn't realize new video cards are so expensive right now.

No point upgrading that computer tbh, it will be bottlenecked by the cpu. You can get a kick ass GPU for the upgrade, but it won't be used at its full potential. However it will still be better than the 660ti.

The only minor upgrade for that computer would be adding ssd, adding another 8gb ram, and whatever budget left for a gpu.

800cad is too little to get a new setup unfortunately. You can upgrade everything and just use 660ti til you save up more to get a good GPU
