What would be the point of that though. I would just play D2. I want new, innovative stuff from D4. Which I think will be hard, because there have been so many games and so many ideas have been tried. I really think that D4 will just be another D3, with prettier graphics.

You sir are thinking the right way, well said. Although I'd love the loot system from diablo 2, as well as the trade system and pvp. If it had those and no modded gear I'd probably still be playing d3 and be excited about d4. But sadly that's not the case. Keep the old but and some new is my opinion.
