I installed a Samsung m.2 nvme SSD into a lenovo laptop. I cloned the hdd to the ssd with the samsung transfer software. The clone completed and turned off my laptop so I then removed the original harddrive, restarted the laptop and it ran great with just the ssd installed. I wanted to then reinstall the old hdd, wipe it and use it as a storage drive, however with that original hard drive reinstalled it will only boot from that drive. I checked the bios and the ssd is above the hdd in the load order. Is there a way to boot from the new ssd with both drives installed?

Go to boot options with the F key and select the ssd to boot. Once you are booted into the ssd os, reformat the storage drive to remove the boot loader

That doesn’t work for me if you mean from the bios. I select to boot from the ssd but it just goes to the hdd. I can only boot into the ssd when the hdd isn’t in the system

Go into other boot options, not the bios. You can pick what drive you boot from with the list that pops up. Reformat the storage so you just have the 1 boot loader on the ssd
If you have the option. On my PC its F12 for boot options to boot from usb, hdd, etc.. F2 for bios options
