The following is a guide on how to get the most out of your graphic request.

Firstly, if you don't have a general idea of the graphic rules on the forum you should read this: Graphic Forum Rules

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Table of contents:

  • 1. How to Request a signature
  • 2. Different signature styles
  • 3. How to create a signature/graphic service
  • 4. Helpful tips for Artists

    1. How to request a signature

Use the following steps to get the best signature for your fg!
  • Consider exactly what you are looking for. The more specific you are, the closer an artist can get on their first attempt.
  • Think carefully about what you want to pay. Try to keep your price range close, for example 400-500 fg and not 1-1000 fg. Giving artists a large variance and then offering them the lowest amount can be very discouraging.
  • Think about a good topic title! 400-500 fg for a Spiderman signature is an example of a good title. It shows exactly what you're requesting, and how much you're offering.
  • I would recommend a red and Bold Topic title if you want to attract the attention of more artists.
  • Post pictures you would like to have in your signature (remember that the quality of a render can't be changed, so try to find something with a high quality).
  • Consider which size your signature should have. You should specify if the signature is for use outside of d2jsp, because most artists will design according to the d2jsp site rules
  • If you have any color preferences please post them in your request topic.
  • Try to describe exactly what style your signature should have. ( Traditional, Smudge, Popout, Animated ) I will give some examples below.
  • Consider what kind of text you would like to have in your signature. If you are using a nickname that's different than your d2jsp nickname, or want your guild name included, you should include this in your post.
  • Think about how long you will run this request topic. Giving a deadline of 1-2 weeks should be plenty of time to allow artists to attempt your request.

Here is an example of a good request: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=84539723
The user stated the size they wanted, offered a price, used bold and red topic title, gave a deadline, gave a color scheme, offered some renders and colors they like.

    2. Different signature styles

There are lots of different styles of signatures, below are some of the most popular. If you want something different, you should include examples of what you're asking for.

    3. How to create a signature/graphic service

It is no longer required to have a Trusted Tag to make your own graphic service, anyone can create their own topic now!
Use the following steps to get as many requests as possible!

  • Think about a good topic title, and you should include the word service so people know you're offering graphic services, and not requesting them.
Coralcaves' Graphic Service - The user states they are offering a service, and when you open the thread you can see exactly what they're offering.
  • Include your limitations - Specify what you can make, and what you aren't willing to attempt. If you're only offering smudge signatures, you should state so in your topic. Popular requests are Signatures, Avatars, Guild Charters and Profile Designs.
  • List your prices for the services you're offering.
  • You should try to include a gallery of premades to show work you have previously done. Either post art you have done in your topic, or link to your d2jsp gallery. Example: Coralcaves premade gallery
  • You should include rules for your topic - IE deadlines of how long each request will take, if you offer a partial refund if the buyer doesn't like your attempt (example would be 75% refund if the buyer doesn't like the outcome), or if you expect payment up front.

    4. Helpful Tips for Artists

  • Remember that you are doing the job for the customer. The customer is always right!
  • Listen to your customer clearly and try to do what you are told, even when it's not fun. You are creating this graphic for someone else, not for yourself.
  • Always remember that you are the artist and the customer is not always familiar with artist lingo. Try to explain and ask questions so the buyer will understand you.
  • Do not impose any conditions on your customer.
  • Do not post any negative reactions when your job got denied by the customer and the customer prefers a signature from another artist. Do not flame another artist' work.
  • Always stay humble and cool.

    5. Bad Manners

  • All d2jsp rules apply in this forum, make sure to follow them here, as well as the Graphic Request Forum Rules.
  • Buyers - Make sure you post when your request is complete and you're done taking requests, so you don't waste an artist's time. if you gave a deadline, stick to it!
  • Do not change your mind about your request after artists have already begun attempting your request. (IE Originally you wanted Batman, now you want Invader Zim)
  • Don't make rude remarks about an artist's attempt. You can make critiques of small changes you would like, but don't waste an artist's time asking for small changes if you already didn't like their first attempt.
  • Artists - Don't offer your signature for less than the buyer if offering. Example - The thread states the buyer is offering 400-500 FG, so you post your attempt and only ask for 100 fg.
  • Don't post in other people's topics unless you are offering an attempt at the request or asking for more information about their request.
  • Don't rip off other people's signatures / art work from here or any other website. Make the request uniquely your own. You can report rippers in the Ripper Accusation Topic
