Flu cases are virtually zero because masking and social distancing work. The flu barely has a viable spread rate most years so these measures are extremely effective at stopping it. For covid the spread rate is far higher so when we social distance and wear masks we still have some spread, but without them we would see 100% infection in about 2 months and every hospital in the country would be overrun at the same time.
