I’ve been using the one that my cable provider gave me and it’s just not cutting it. Looking for a decent router to replace it. I’d like to spend somewhere between 100-200 on it so it doesn’t have to be top of the line. But I’d like something decent. Anyone have any ideas?

I’m not computer savvy so honestly I couldn’t tell you what my internet speeds are. All I know is it’s the high speed internet from spectrum in NY. And right now I use the modem/router combo they gave us so I’d either want another combo one or I’d have to get both a modem and router separately. Either way is fine with me though.

You don’t know what internet plan you are paying for?

At least test your internet speed for us and start there. And what’s wrong with the equipment they gave you

The problems I have with the one I have now is for 1 I “rent” the modem so it costs me 10 bucks every month for the last 4-5 years. And the second thing is it just doesn’t seem like it can handle multiple devices and even when it’s just one device I get extremely high ping spikes every once in a while while playing games.

Yeah I figured it was slow. It sucks because in my area we only have 1 internet provider right now. Verizon fios is just now starting to come around and should be available in the late spring. I did the internet test online and those were the numbers that came up. Does my modem affect that or is that just my internet in general?

I could set my budget higher. I guess I just didn’t know how expensive a decent one would cost. I don’t play games with too often but I’d like something that runs it fine when I do decide to play and when multiple devices are on I’d like it to run smooth as well.
