I build a PC in 2014
i7-4790k
Z97-SLI
2X - GTX 980 SLI
G.SKILL 1600MHZ DDR3
SSDs

I play Warhammer Vermintide 2 on extreme graphic settings and maintain a solid 60-75 fps on 1080p

my friend's PC
i5-7600k
ASUS ROG STRIX 270E
RADEON RX 480
DDR 4 3200 MHZ

and he was able to maintain the same frames most of the time

where was I bottlenecking myself? Is it because I'm using DDR3 and he was using DDR4?
how was his one budget card keeping up with 2 faster, but older 980s?

Something else is at play, your system is not bottle necked and should shit on a 480 regardless of what cpu/ram he has.

hmm reading games super cpu intensive, but even still you should be fine imo.
Try overclocking your cpu or check your cpu usage out when in game.

Tune the ram timings

Sell your 980s and buy a 1080 with the money because sli is dead and bad


I see 980s going for close to 150. 1080 Is 300
