I'm worried about my laptop handling it, i played legion about 4 years ago and it worked fine just loaded kinda slow,.
it's an Asus X750LN i think the gfx card is a nvidia 840m or something.

should i just give it a go ?

You can login to characters under lvl 20 and play however you want besides auction and mail/whipsers. I'd try that first.

that's what i did.
i still dunno cuz the 2 people i know playing are just gonna be on shadowlands and i'm not buying that .
