I never look at my friendlist, if any of my friend(s) on my list need assistance or just general chat, they do this by PM and I will reply. What is the purpose of a NOTE to friend?

I actually thought it was self-explanatory but ok... Sometimes you add someone you don't know or play with, but sell things, do lvl jobs, what ever... at d2, wow, poe etc. For quicker contact with such people, you can add them to the friends list and you could now add the note

Basically it is just faster to click their profile from your friend list to send them a PM.
All services you provide should also be listed in your profile, so them requesting you to be accepted as a friend should have seen your profile already, so they will see your services etc and PM you. If they don't, then they don't need it.

If they see you trading something, they just click on the Send PM part of your details on the left of the screen... simple as that.

I think this is actually very useful.
I have people on my friend's list who have name changed, or people I added from way back in the day and don't remember why.
Could be nice to make notes.
