It's a long shot but we could be on the verge of another coronavirus outbreak, owing to a more severely mutated and resilient COVID-19 coming from mink to human transmission. This would make it less likely that the currently developed vaccines will work. There's nothing to say we can't also vaccinate against these different strains, but it would take time which we clearly don't have.
Given that COVID-19 is nearly impossible to stop, coupled with the mutation's existence being present in both humans and mink populations across the world, we may be on the precipice of an even worse 2021. The likelihood of this mutation being a gamechanger is small, but think of the potential impact.
