Hey, so I have a 1070 at home just collecting dust doing nothing. Thinking about a build around it to have at work. I have peripherals(keyboard, mouse, headset, 144hz monitor) that I can use for this build too.

Budget: Hopefully under 800
More specific use (what games, what programs): FPS games like; CoD, Rogue Company, Valorant
Planned time until purchase: Immediate
Do you need an Operating System?: NO
Do you have any specific preferred components?: NO
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: NO
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Maybe Light OC
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: NO
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 60045

Again, GPU is not needed. I have an MSI 1070 to use for this build. I do want the pc to be decent, and then maybe next year or so I change the gpu out on it to a newer amd card. So a CPU that wont be obsolete soon would be great, ryzen probably. Maybe just a 1tb ssd or higher pending on cost fitting budget

Also, I do have a microcenter like an hour away so would travel to get parts if helps with pricing

Was thinking maybe something like this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8H6KXb

Maybe you guys can help me shed some dollars here and there, or make it better around a pricepoint like that. Cause I might go to microcenter tomorrow and pick up the sorts of I can find the right build

Edit: seeing a bunch of issues with the mobo, so for sure need help picking out something different

Edit: also important, wifi on the mobo would be a plus

Intel build
Idk much about mobo, but it should be good.
I've been looking for any real world use of multi channel ram. In gaming it SHOULDN'T matter. This would leave much room for upgrade too. And LGA 1200 socket will be viable next gen for upgrading cpu wanting.

Edit: filter mobo with WiFi 6 and/or 5 and look for cheapest and read reviews would be a way to cut some of price.

I’m no expert when it comes to pc parts. And I remember the 10600k being a nice surprise when it was released based on its performance. But I feel like the price vs the ryzen 5 or 7, that ryzen is still the better choice?

Anyone else feel like chiming in. I was considering going today to microcenter but not getting much input :/

This was supposed to be a 'budgetier' build, since Ill be only playing it at work, and not at the same capacity I would at home. But with the ability to update my 1070 to one of the new AMD gpus when they come out. So thats what the cpu choice was supposed to be targeted for.

Just wasnt wanting to drop thousand(s) on this build

EDIT: arent the zen3 ryzens already out?

Out of stock lol

With the 5600 at 299, you should be around 800$ imo
Power supply is overkill but if you plan to upgrade gpu later its gonna be handy

Youre probably right, waiting for the 5600x is the right move
