nice. So does monster level affect how much xp you get towards professions? So do higher level profession points require higher level monsters to get xp?

Profession points are increased solely by the use of an item and your char lvl

If you are prof lvl 3, your prof will not advance until your char is at lvl 4, and fighting lvl4 mobs

to be clear, this is a really bad way of doing things, each prof is just 1% ee. Not really something which deserves that much of your attention.

You cannot fight say a level 10 mob with a level 50 character with 100 vit a level 50 armor a rusted sword and afk it, you are capped to about 5 prof exp per fight, so once you hit whatever that amount is, you won't gain more even if you extend the fight.

Just climb to 71 asap and repeat. This is very cost efficient, someone with no access to the marketplace managed it within 2 days on the test server when that was a thing (shoutouts to insanebob the legend).
It's very possible, go all the way up to 100+ vit and just keep at it, have something to watch while you do it or whilst you're afk on a nearby screen or just have smaller windows.

The biggest slog is doing 55 to 71, it's extremely difficult for new players, but many players have done it with basically a 4 fg weapon and a 1 fg armor and 1 fg charm
