no its not. did you even watch? the first clip explicitly asked, "is there ANY place for ... fracking". to which he emphatically replied "no. no." if he meant only not on federal lands he should have / would have specified that.

oil need to be phased out, but not in the next 5 years. we're not ready for that yet.

During the debate he word for word said , “no fracking on federal lands”

Can pull specific time later. It’s possibly he misspoke his position earlier in the debate and not surprising cuz he not all there. but his actual stance has been clear, And he also clarified the misspeak during the debate

i didnt see the whole debate, so im not sure if they were only referencing something he said earlier in the debate, although it didnt seem like it. what i saw was trump saying that biden has said he was against fracking [in general]. biden clarified by claiming that he had been speaking about only on federal lands. trump then said he'll prove him wrong, and brought news clips that are clearly to the contrary to prove it. if what was in question was only what was said during the debate, he wouldnt have brought news clips to the contrary, he wouldnt posted the clip from earlier in the debate.

either way, its undeniable that biden is firmly against fracking anywhere.

His actual stance is perfectly clear: "I want to get rid of oil and fracking asap." He said this loud and clear on countless occasions during the primaries and during campaign rallies. He of course chose his words more carefully during the presidential debate. He knows that openly embracing a fracking ban is a huge risk in the Rust Belt, and that fully rejecting a fracking ban would risk alienating many on the left. Therefore, he used this carefully chosen construction "no fracking on federal lands" during yesterday's debate.

It's probably the most reasonable position to have as a Democrat to be honest.

More like "I want to make fracking unnecessary asap".

Yes, of course it is. But it's nonetheless easy to see the true intention behind this rhetoric.

Man I love how for Trump the "true intention" is always more noble and for Democrats the "true intention" is always less noble.

Almost like you bend over backwards for one side and not the other.

This has nothing to do with more or less "noble". I'm just taking into account the fact that the Democratic party has gotten more leftist/bold/radical on virtually every policy issue over the past 4-8 years. On many issues, like race, healthcare and climate change, the pace of the Demcoratic leftward lurch is breathtaking. And given the fact that pro-oil and -fracking regions punch far above their weight in the electoral college, it doesnt take malicious intentions on my part to conclude that the Democratic rhetoric on this issue will be to the right of the eventual party platform.
